Cell C Pinnacle 3 - Good Deal?

Hi All,
Really considering this SIM deal for unlimited calls, unlimited texts, 10GB anytime data for R999.
I am on Vodacom Smart XL and I have an extra 1GB addon for R149 and my bill comes to over R1500 (also financing my Note 5 and Gear S2). From a cost perspective this seems like a deal especially since Cell C will do a contract buyout.
I'm however concerned about connection issue and network coverage (I will also read the stickies on the forum). Anyone else on this and can vouch on this deal?

Surprise surprise? Suddenly my limit was changed from R57.00 to R213 this month. No message as claimed. Apparently its now called a "voluntary limit" on a open contract. Now after 5Gb use on myfi device you pay more than before whithin minute's. What a sly scam to defraud their customers.


Apparenly the limit cannot be reduced to lower than R50.00 yet a friend of mine have a limit set at R1.00.

I want out.

Cell C Has Stolen My Giga200 Package [solved!]

I purchased 2x Giga 200 packages on 05/04/2016 wanted to use on 29/09/2016 one works fine the other the sim has been deactivated by CellC I went To the Cell C shop where I purchased the packages the gent who helped me just got a negative response from the Cell C help desk Kagiso from the help desk said there is nothing he can do as the sim had be deactivated because it had not been in used for three months.
How can Cell C deactivate a package that is valid for 365 Days? When it is still valid and never been used.
Why was the other sim bought on the same day not deactivated? According to your help desk it should also have been deactivated as it had not been used for 3 months
I am not going to accept this as it puts me R1000 out of pocket I will be seeking legal advice regarding this matter and will be logging a complaint with ICASA regarding this matter.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - Older firmware

Hi Cell_C

I've noticed today that my CellC provided Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a much older firmware version than my colleagues' Vodacom S7 Edge. Mine only has Android security patch level for 1 May 2016 while his has 1 September. Also his phone has Samsung Cloud which mine doesn't which seems to be able to backup for instance even the home launcher.

Is there any reason why CellC has not released any new updates for the S7 Edge? I would really like to get the newer features on this expensive phone not even to speak about the fact that I'm fairly worried now about the security patch level?

I've noticed that there is some critical vulnerabilities that was addressed in the later software security patches which can be seen here:

Not really sure who to take this up with.

Giga200 (150+50) Nitemare

I bought the CellC giga200 deal on special early this year @ R999 as I usually did in the past with the catch being that you can use 150Gig @ nite(1am to 7am) though it seems this year all they have offered is a bittersweet deal.

Therefore I encourage anyone on this package to check their data balances just before 6am & after 7pm as there seems to be an issue where your normal 50Gig daytime data is chowed between 6-7am whereby according to CellC that's their nite time. I have called their customer service whereby the issue has been escalated though I haven't got any forward communication so far.

Currently I'm dataless during daytime since even my budget airtime was consumed by the fault @ CellC regardless of what their customer care agents suggested including blaming my smartphone.

i saw the advertisement 200 gigs for a Very! Small price "i thought it was a small price per month" i will buy the :love: HUAWEI LTE Router :love: that can support LTE Advanced What is the name of router that Supports LTE Advanced? because i looked on the Cell C coverage map i can Definitely Get LTE Advanced from Cell C
My DSL line is Dead :cry: :mad: 10 Mbps Telkom Line when the technician comes if he can fix the line or sort out why its :cry: not synchronzing

AND YOU KNOW WHAT! when i think of it now seeing the Smartcom website and that you can get better signal with a External antenna the internet in this country is NOT all that bad as its made out to be.

2 Days ago i bought a CellC 1GB daily night data bundle and i was suprised to see 1GB being counted as 1000 MB.
Are they using dirty schemes to fool their customers? where is my remaining 24 MB? :cry:

if you have Cell C LTE Advanced in your area and you have a HUAWEI LTE Advanced Router with external Antennas
please do a Speedtest with the speedtest app. i have Cell C LTE Advanced in my Area "Don't Know HOW! Many Users on Cell LTE Advanced in my Area" but i just want to get an idea of what i might get.

Cell C to Vodacom roaming

I have a data contract with cell c that came with a hauwei router. It's R99 per month for 5gb daytime data and 15gb night. The problem is that the network speed from cell c is just terrible. Especially when using instant messaging. messages take a few seconds or even longer to go through (H / H+ issues). Browsing the web or updating apps is a nightmare! Frustrating AF!!!

So I put the sim in an old phone and forced roaming on vodacom 3G. This works almost perfectly. If I switch back to cell c on the phone, it's pretty much useless.

So is there any other cost involved with roaming on Vodacom? I asked on cell c facebook page but no reply. They replied to my complaint about the terrible network, but not the question about roaming charges. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Anyone else have a problem with Background app data usage on Cell C netowork

Okay, I have been a Cell C customer since early 2014. Since then I have had three seperate phones and had one extremely annoying problem with all 3 phones. I incur background data charges even though I am not using any apps at all.

I had this problem on two Blackberries as well as the current phone that I am using which is a HTC Desire 626.

On the blackberries, even if I had BIS, I would be charged. When I phoned Customer care, they told me it was background data charges.

Eventually I took up this issue with one of the Cell C top guys. He could not even give me a clear cut answer and in the end he told me to load Blackberry Desktop Software to solve the issue. Im not sure if he was bull****ting me.

Eventually I got so annoyed with this problem on my second Blackberry that I just bought a cheap Samsung phone to use as my calling phone and I used by Blackberry for Watsapp only. I used to load R10 to buy a bundle. The other 2.50 would go to background costs.

On my current phone, the HTC 626, I went as far as restricting background data usage yet still I am being charged for background data usage. I bought a Watsapp bundle and refrain from using any apps when the mobile data is switched on yet I still have charges.

I am trying to sort out this problem now since I lost the cheap phone for calling.

Is there anyone else who had this problem or who can advise me on a solution?

Hi all,

I recently got a 100gig mobile data from Cell C for a great price (and it lasts a year!).
However, when I connect my phone to my laptop (or hotspot) for some reason I can't log
in to clients' VPN connections with this connection. I know for a fact colleagues are doing this
but can't find the relevant information on the Cell C site.

Can anyone help me by any chance? Surely if I have the VPN connections setup on my laptop then
the phones' data connection should be able to just act as an internet connection?

CellC capping my LTE at a measly low speed

So while I'm trying to stream some online content, my video suddenly comes to a stuttering halt. At first I thought it might be a tower/server issue etc. Checking on my router I discover my bandwidth maxing out at 4MBPS as you can see on the picture. After some more investigation I realised my laptop decided now would be a good time to download all the new windows 10 updates, somehow this has the highest priority and absolutely no video content gets through. After killing the update process I could stream once again.

Now my question, is there a technical reason why CellC is capping their LTE bandwidth? If they haven't done it I would not have had any issues.

Hi there

Can anyone advise if these data bundles work on Vodacom. ie Where vodacom extends CellC coverage. Just wondering as I want to buy it for my phone and don't want to hit a roaming spot and then data consumes airtime.

Facebook Inaccessible from Wife's Cell C Sim

So, since their Facebook support is giving me the runaround today, maybe someone here can help.

For full disclosure, the facts:
- Wife ported over to Cell C from MTN in the first week of October
- Initially Facebook didn't work on her sim. She accesses it via Chrome for Android (Galaxy S5). We contacted them 2 weeks ago on Facebook about the problem, and we were lucky enough to get someone clued-up on the day. He fixed it by changing some settings, and it worked til about Monday, when it stopped working again. Today they reset her APN and did a reset(wasn't hopeful about this to begin with, but whatever), still not working.
- All other mobile data sites/services are accessible.
- It works fine with my Cell C sim on her phone.
- It doesn't work with her sim in my phone (S4).

Really baffled by this one. Multiple restarts haven't worked at all. Even weirder is that it got fixed by changing something 2 weeks ago, and now it's broken again, and unfixable.

Can I buy a prepaid sim for testing before I buy the Giga ? I assume I must disable roaming.
