Recent network upgrades have rendered my phone unusable

Hi

Maybe its just me but recently (July month) there has been mass instability in the network. I went to PE for a weekend earlier this month and I couldn't for the life of me use my phone because I couldn't get an Internet connection nor could I make or receive phone calls. I needed to travel around using my phone's GPS but no, I couldn't get connected. I ended up using my dad's old school Nokia on MTN for calls and borrowing my mum's S5 Mini MTN for GPS.

I have literally never had dropped calls on Cell C until this month. I am at the point of thinking that my phone is physically damaged because I can't make phone calls nor receive... I am not even talking about data use. My 4G S6 is reduced to H+ that works for 2 minutes then goes to H and just stares at me blankly. When it shows 4G, you have a better chance of anything happening with GPRS signal. Whatsapp messages don't go through at all and it's so bad that you wish you could have the dreaded two blue ticks (friend zone anyone?)

I went into Cell C at Kolonnade, in Pretoria, where I live, and the guy told me there were recent network upgrades and some phones were adversely affected, one of which was mine but just a simple phone restart will fix. We restarted, he typed some things on the PC, did some things on the phone and gave me a missed call to test and all was in order. I walked out and within 10 seconds of leaving -- no improvement. I walked back in but then I had to join the queue... so I was like, nevermind.

All I want is for Cell C to reverse upgrades because my phone is now useless.

Ciao like goodbye. You know like ciao, arrivederci, Sbarro, Papa Johns.

CellC Billing

Every month I get R150 airtime. But these days, when I buy once off data bundles, it get bills to my monthly account rather than my R150 airtime. Is there a way to change this?

Also, how can I cancel a recurring bundle?

No Delivery. Hiding behind Franchise stores

We renewed 5 contracts at the start of July with the Cape Gate Store. 5 weeks later we are still waiting for the delivery of the phones. The Gape Gate store just says we are waiting for stock. The Cell C call cantre just refers us back to Gape Gate because they are a Franchise store.

IMO this is a breach of contract and i should be able to insist on compensation.

We signed documents with Cell C. Our agreement is with Cell C not the franchise store. If we dont pay our account can i then tell Cell C to ask the franchise store to pay the account.

Time to change i think.

I just got back to the office after buying a Cell C SIM which I need for testing purposes. I did the whole RICA nonsense, I inserted the SIM into my phone about 5 minutes ago, but it just displays an 'x' where the signal strength should be.

I'm in the middle of Bellville so I'm 100% sure there's coverage.

Cell C handling number porting

This is just a warning to everyone who has a cell c number. They seem to have absolutely no double check process on a number port request.

I just moved my number to Telkom and I followed their process. They send me a code and they input it on their side to start the porting process. Cell c are then supposed to notify me a port request has been initiated and then to send me a message that I respond to to approve the port. This didn't happen and my number just ported.

Just thought people should be aware of this since this is a huge gaping hole that identity thieves can exploit and expose your bank stuff as well

Fine for a missed debit order. I was charged a fine of more than R80 for a missed debit order after I properly requested cellc to move the date from 28th to last day of the month. No one actioned this. After all I have been a loyal customer to cellc for 10 years. Is anyone ever have experienced this

Hello,

One of my clients prefer using their cell-c smtp servers. I need to add the cell-c smtp servers to their SPF record on their domain.

Where can I find out which IPs need to be added to the SPF record for CellC?

Thanks

Unable to blacklist the phone for a month!

My phone was stolen on 31 July 2016 on the same day, I logged a call with Cell c to blacklist the phone. The agent told me it will take up to 48 hours to do that, as it needs to go to the back office. I was leaving the country on 02 August 2016 and up to that date didn't hear any response from Cell c. The alternative number that was given to Cell C to contact regarding the result, wasn't contacted either. When I came back back to the country on 29 August 2016, I called Cell C again, when they tell me they couldn't blacklist the phone because of the insufficient information was given (nevermind them not bothering to contact on the alternative number). Case was reopened again, just to hear today they couldn't open a case because I need to go to the store to do this process! So, it took you a month to realise this?! What a pathetic service you give, Cell C! And very incompetent stuff thats working there! Where in your live it takes a whole month to black list YOUR OWN cell phone!

Very poor LTE speeds

Hi Cell C,

I posted in the "speed test" thread, but it appears to have gone unnoticed. Should I expect full LTE speed during peak hours or is a download speed of +-170KB/s around 20:00 normal on your network? Quite shocking considering that I'm used to two to three MB/s most other times.

Regards

Red Bull Mobile Tariff Plan Issues

I purchased RBM Sim from Cell C. It's a 12 month 200MB P/M Once-Off Sim at R99. http://mybroadband.co.za/news/cellul...th-africa.html

1 year has passed and now my benefits are over. I reactivated it using the same number for another year, until it expired again.

Now I want to keep my number and my network but change my Tariff. It doesn't seem to work.

Some Cell C Stores say...
Buy a new sim.
Sim swap to new sim keeping number.
Have R5+ balance.
Dial *147#. Option 1.
This is my error...

I want to know how do I get off this Tariff and keep my Number.
I wondered if I Port to another Network then come back to Cell C. Will It Work?
What are my options?

CellC and updating iOS issue

I have an issue whereby I cant seem to be able to update or download iPhone updates over the air (OTA) or even via itunes. I'm able to browse and download from other sites however iOS updates specifically do not seem to work for some weird reason. I have tried updating all that I can and still no joy. The reason I suspect it can only be cellc is because the last update I had to do it on a different WIFI network. And the former one only happened after about a whole week after clicking on update.

Is there a problem perhaps with the way Cellc handles a data connection and apple servers perhaps?

Contract Cancellation General Question

Hi guys,

I am currently on a Giga20 contract with Cell C. The network in Summerstrand is so bad... speeds below 2Mbps are the norm now. I think I have like 15 months left on this contract (may be a little more or a little less). The contract came with a Huawei Wingle HSPA modem.

I have lost my patience with Cell C, the network has been painfully slow for months now.

I am probably gonna get something from Vodacom... yes they are a little pricey but at least their network is superb in Summerstrand... LTE speeds hit 30Mbps here.

I wanted to hear from anyone else here who has cancelled a contract with Cell C... how did it go, how much did you pay for cancellation?

Was at Cell-C shop today to buy a new Giga 100.

For the past few months the my Giga 100 Anytime Price dropped from R2499 to R999 anytime.
It was a special deal, but now it was confirmed that Cell-C will stick to this price. :D Best Deal.

Today I was informed that the new Giga 200 Anytime kicked in at a low price of R1699.:erm::D

Where does a tourist get a SIM card for the 6 weeks they are visiting SA?

Friend arrived on Friday, staying in Cape Town
We went along to CellC store.
First person: No, cannot sell you a SIM since you do not have a permanent address
Second person: Buy one at Pick n Pay and we will sort it out, return with SIM and now they want 3 months bank statement and proof of address. UK address is not valid
Third person: Phone this number 084...... Someone answers speaking foreign language. After 10 mins discover it is a shop somewhere in Jhb
Fourth person: Why are you visiting, you must use your UK phone (explain that Orange does not work in SA, no idea)
Fifth person: You should have bought it at the airport - yes, fine, but Vodafone shop was shut since it was 8.00pm

I cannot believe such an astonishing rigmarole. In the UK, you go along to the shop, pay your £10 or whatever and get a SIM with airtime that lasts a month

Incoming headline on Mybb shortly:

The 'meh, 24-month contract' crowd should take note of this:

"The company further said that the new LTE Power Plan packages were 24-month contracts, and could be cancelled for any reason with a 30 day notice and no cancellation fees."
