After being with CellC for 12 months I moved to 8ta 6 months ago when CellC decided that there would be no price differential between someone buying 10Mb valid for 60 days and someone buying 60Gb valid for 12 months. My download speed dropped from between 10Mb/s and 3Mb/s to between 5Mb/s and 1.5Mb/s but this is acceptable for my needs.
Yesterday my ZTE MF668 modem started dropping the connection every few minutes. To see if this was network related I went out and bought a CellC SIM with some data and tried that. Same problem so I bought a new modem. This solved the dropped connection problem.
With the new CellC SIM in the modem I tried to download a file. Download speed was about 30kb/s and the estimated download time was well over an hour and a half so I canceled the download. A speed test showed that for local download the speed is 9.3Mb/s but for overseas download the speed is 0.33Mb/s.
Changing to the 8ta SIM gives me a download speed of 3.6Mb/s for local and 1.55Mb/s for overseas.
